A vibrant summer 2024 for Charles Richard-Hamelin!

Following a remarkable tour in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, London and Montreal with the dazzling mezzo-soprano Ema Nikolovska, and a series of concerts with his friend David Jalbert, pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin is preparing for two new tours in Asia (South Korea and Japan) in June and September. Invited to several renowned classical music festivals and series in Quebec, Canada, the United States and Europe (Poland, Germany and Switzerland), Charles makes his UK debut at London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall on June 26.

In addition to many concerts and masterclasses, he records his twelfth album in August at the magnificent Koerner Hall in Toronto, Ontario. This new album will be released on ANALEKTA (Outhere Music) in February 2025.

An artist around the world

In Asia
Charles Richard-Hamelin flies to South Korea and Japan from May 30 to June 13, where he will perform six concerts in some of the world’s most renowned venues. This is his 12th tour of Asia since 2016. Since the Chopin Competition in 2015, Asian audiences have literally taken a liking to this artist, as demonstrated by the renewed invitations including these prestigious tours.
His tour takes him first to South Korea at the Shinsegae Namsan Trinity Hall in Seoul (May 30) for two concertos with orchestra (Mozart and Chopin), the Andong Culture and Art Center (May 31) and the renowned Seoul Arts Center (June 1), where he presents his Granados-Albéniz-Chopin program. This is followed by the Japanese cities of Yokohama and Tokyo (June 4, 6 and 13), where Charles Richard-Hamelin meets up again with the Japanese public who have been following him for some years now.

He also returns to Japan in September 2024 for a series of duo concerts with pianist Marc-André Hamelin. Reunited for the first time on the same stage at the Festival de Lanaudière in 2022 with Les Violons du Roy, our two virtuoso pianists meet again here to present their duo recital first on the stage of the prestigious Fukuoka Symphony Hall (September 10) and then at the Kanagawa Prefectural Music Hall in Yokohama (September 14). Charles concludes his Japanese tour with a solo recital at the Osaka Symphony Hall (September 16).

In Quebec, Canada and the United States
After several concerts in the spring, Charles is in recital at Domaine Forget in Charlevoix (June 30), Concerts Lachine (July 9) and in Ontario at the Waterside Summer Series (July 13). He is also invited to two Canadian chamber music festivals: Chamberfest West in Calgary (July 20) and the Ottawa Chamberfest (July 30), in duo with Marc-André Hamelin.

The Festival de Lanaudière once again welcomes our pianist for a recital in the heart of summer at the Mascouche church, on July 31 (Concert recorded by ICI Musique and presented as part of the European Broadcasting Union’s Euroradio Summer Festivals). The pianist from Lanaudière joins Festival audiences for an intimate evening built around the waltz, from the shimmering colors of Granados to the dazzling virtuosity of Chopin, via an evocation of Albéniz’s phantasmagorical Andalusia. He will then have the honor of presenting this beautiful program in the United States at the Rockport Chamber Music Festival (Rockport, MA), on August 11.

In Europe
While in Poland, he presents two recitals in the enchanting setting of Chopin’s birthplace, at the Zelazowa Wola Recitale Chopinovskie niedziela, on June 23. He then makes his UK debut with his Granados-Albéniz-Chopin recital at London’s grandiose Wigmore Hall on June 26.
He is back in Europe later this summer: in Wengen, Switzerland, for the hugely popular Mendelssohn Musicwoche (August 18), then in Germany, invited by the Chopin Gesellschaft Hannover (August 25).
