A second album of Mozart for Charles Richard-Hamelin!
Teaming up for the second time on a recording, pianist Charles Richard- Hamelin and Les Violons du Roy, conducted by Jonathan Cohen, are proud to present their new album, Mozart: Concertos Nos. 20 and 23, which marks a milestone in their remarkable artistic collaboration!
This album was recorded at the Palais Montcalm in Quebec City, whose rich enveloping sound highlights Mozart’s great concertos. The iconic pieces featured on the album were composed between 1783 and 1786, when Mozart was at a significant personal and professional turning point, which accounts for their ethereal grace and harmonious fluidity.
Available in stores and on all digital platforms starting October 20, 2023, a date that coincides numerologically with Concertos Nos. 20 and 23.

ABOUT CHARLES RICHARD-HAMELIN
Pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin won the Silver Medal and the Krystian Zimerman Prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2015, and today ranks as one of the finest pianists of his generation. A recipient of the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec, he was awarded the Prix Denise-Pelletier in November 2022, making him the youngest winner in the history of the Prix du Québec.
As a guest at many of the world’s leading classical music festivals, he has performed as a soloist with orchestras of international stature. He has collaborated with renowned conductors, including Kent Nagano, Jonathan Cohen, Rafael Payare, Bernard Labadie, Antoni Wit, Vasily Petrenko, Jacek Kaspszyk, Aziz Shokhakimov, Peter Oundjian, Jacques Lacombe, Fabien Gabel, Carlo Rizzi, John Storgårds, Alexander Prior, Giancarlo Guerrero, Christoph Campestrini, Lan Shui, Otto Tausk, Jean- Marie Zeitouni, Kazuki Yamada, and Yannick Nézet- Séguin.
Charles Richard-Hamelin has released eleven albums on the Analekta label (Outhere Music), all of which have won rave reviews from music critics around the world.
ABOUT LES VIOLONS DU ROY
Les Violons du Roy are very active in Quebec City, where they are resident performers at Palais Montcalm. They also maintain a strong presence in Montreal and enjoy national and international renown, as evidenced by fifty or so tours abroad that have landed them on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, from New York to Seoul, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and Paris. This latest album, the 38 thin a discography that has won them three Junos and a Félix, is the second by Jonathan Cohen, their Music Director since 2018.
ABOUT JONATHAN COHEN
Jonathan Cohen enjoys a remarkable career as a conductor, cellist, and harpsichordist. Not only is he renowned for his passion and commitment to chamber music, but he also masters a wide range of repertoires, including baroque opera and classical symphonic works. He is Artistic Director of Arcangelo and the Tetbury Music Festival, Music Director of Les Violons du Roy, and Artistic Partner of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Beginning in the 2023-2024 season, he’ll be Artistic Director of the Handel and Haydn Society.
