Description
Accademia de’ Dissonanti presents a program featuring the music of Jean Baur, an 18th century French composer and harpist. The ensemble has made the first recording of this fascinating and almost unknown composer. With joyful, imaginative passages and lively, expressive melodies, the music is highly virtuoso, exploring approaches on the cello that were entirely new for the time. We’ll also have the pleasure of hearing the pedal harp (a new instrument that enjoyed dazzling popularity in the mid-eighteenth century), played here on one of the only original instruments in North America and adding irresistible color to this concert!
